History

The Gold Coast was built in 1986. It was the second major resort built on the west side of I-15. It also was the second Coast casino built after The Barbary Coast. The Barbary Coast was built in 1979 by Michael Gaughan. In October 2006, Boyd Gaming and Harrah's Entertainment traded the Barbary Coast for the former Westward Ho Hotel and Casino and adjacent property, so they would be able to build Echelon Place. In March 2007, the Barbary Coast officially changed its name to Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon.

The Gold Coast received a major upgrade in 2002 that provided additional space for parking, restaurants, and gaming. The Gold Coast has also recently remodeled some of its rooms and is in the process of adding a new restaurant, T.G.I. Friday's.
